Murder. A Few Thoughts On The Subject

Someone shot and killed a very rich CEO.
A lot of people are shocked by the incident and condem the man who shot the CEO.
The shock over and condemnation of this incident confuses me.
Here on one hand we have one man whose decisions have caused hundreds, if not thousands, if not millions of deaths, bankruptcies, pains, and sufferings. This one man’s hands were (and still are) soaked with the blood of everyone from saint to sinner, and all he did with his time was straighten his necktie and laugh all the way to the bank.
Here on the other hand we have one man whose decision has caused one death. Not tens, hundreds, or thousands of deaths. Not as many deaths as, say, being the leader of the free world and botching a pandemic response. Not as many deaths as, say, recruiting thousands of unfortunate young men and women and sending them off to die in some asshole’s war and personal passion play. Nope. One death.
I have no pity - none - for a multi-million dollar mass murderer. He was no victim. He was no martyr. He didn’t kill one person in broad dramatic daylight. No, he killed people slowly over a span of time and with less visibility. He wasn’t a household name. He didn’t have a mug shot. He slept quite comfortably every night. But he was still a cold blooded killer.
He was a criminal without conscience or consequence.
That is, until now.
I shed not a single tear over his demise. In digging a new grave for every claimant whose claim denial or delay caused unnecessary pain, suffering, loss, or death, he dug his own.
Someone may have pushed him into it, but it was already there in the gaping ground, ready for him. Waiting for him. A muddy maw for a murdering man.
May he lie in it and rot for all eternity.
Eat the rich.
