I mean if the jackboot fits…

Today I learned that being an Authoritarian Follower is, at least in part, a hard-wired genetic thing that impacts about 18-20 percent of us (and republicans take advantage of it all the time).
Lucy is about the same. Wouldn’t eat. Slept all night and almost entirely all of today. Finally ate a few bites of Wendy’s chicken. Had to crush her pills and mix them with water to get them in her. Her eyes are a little brighter and alert today. Definitely not out of the woods though. 🐶❤️🩹
❤️💔❤️💔❤️💔
Our Lucy beagle is absolutely wiped out. Another infection and pancreatitis flare up. Also trying to regulate her glucose/insulin without the precise monitoring of a hospital. She still hasn’t eaten but is drinking water and seems to be keeping it down. I’ve not seen her this weak before. 💔💔💔
Lucy wouldn’t eat yesterday, has thrown up at least twice, wet the floor six times overnight, and hasn’t eaten today. She has a tremor. The vet’s first recommendation was get her to the hospital which, financially, isn’t an option for us right now. So we’re here at the vet. Waiting. Hold on to hope.
I’m not a huge U2 fan, but the songs I like, I really like, and Sunday Bloody Sunday chief among them. I guess they re-recorded a chunk of their back catalogue including Sunday…
Am also very much not a fan of artists reworking lyrics because it dilutes the integrity of the piece
But this works
Yup
A lip gloss looked like it would be the same dark shade of red as my frames, but it’s brighter than expected. I’ll still wear it sometimes. Maybe more often than sometimes if anti-trans legislation keeps being passed. A “Read My Ruby Red Lips” social media campaign in the making, perhaps? 💋🏳️⚧️✊
Re: The Satanic Temple, I highly recommend reading their stated mission and seven tenets, none of which recommend drug-fueled ritualistic Eyes Wide Shut type orgies with steam ironed robes and creepy masques everywhere.
In fact, they don’t even mention Stanley Kubrick at all.
Weird, I know.
Look, Ma! I’ve gone back to church after all!
I’m grateful that there are people in my life who express gratitude.
Stopped at a divine coffee shop called Fox in the Snow cafe and picked up a delicious latte and this little fellow which I gobbled down like a turkey, by which I mean I said “gobble gobble” while I quickly ate it. It was…messy.

I seriously might have the best husband in the world. Check out this birthday gift from him! 👟🎂🤩
Michael gave me THE best Christmas present this morning: a 1950s wooden toy chest filled with (almost all vintage) Muppets! And he didn’t even mix Sesame Street in which would have secretly disappointed me. Nope. I was left speechless and smiling, and feeling completely seen.
Welp, we brought Lucy on our trip to see family, and she seems to have adjusted just fine to being in a somewhat strange environment without full sight or hearing. ♥
🥰 I started my Cultivating Gratitude class last week by asking people to share a childhood memory/possession they’re grateful for. I talked about my Ernie doll and the Ernie poster Mom made for me. Well today one of the participants gave this to me. It made me smile for five solid minutes!
I was just browsing pictures and laughed out loud when I saw (and didn’t remember) that I had put my 8th grade yearbook photo in a folder called “memes.” Appropriately filed. Good one, Me.
🎵 I am 100% certain that the specific play counts are off, but I’m ok with the final Apple Music Replay ‘23 rankings.
An afternoon updating a PowerPoint for a class I’m doing tomorrow, and PPT just crashed hard. Our agency won’t enable OneDrive for Business so it wasn’t auto saved.
I lost every update I’d made.
Ironically, the class I’m doing tomorrow is on gratitude.
Here’s a slide that doesn’t lie.
Here’s a photo of Lucy waiting to see the doc.
Wearing nothing is divine Naked is a state of mind
Lucy’s morning routine 😔 💊💊💊💊+💧💧💧💧=💸💸💸💸 but also = 🐶 which means it’s worth every dollar. It’s just…a lot of dollars. She does really well with taking everything though. Bonsai was a nightmare when it came to taking meds. I still miss that stubborn Shiba. 🐕
Waking Up and Smelling the Coffee
Thursday, November 16, 2023
This is what I woke up to this morning, and what I’m grateful to wake up to almost every morning. It’s a Kate Bush coffee mug full of coffee and a glass full of water. My husband brings them to me (sometimes the coffee is in a Prince coffee mug) and sits with me and then together, we wake up. …I hate the YouTube app almost as much as I hate the Substack app. My seething hatred could lead to overlooking something, but are text status update-like posts in people’s YouTube subscription feeds now? There’s no video or share button on this post. I can report it or scroll past it. That’s it.
Michael named him Ralph.
Heh.
Today was, thankfully, my last day of grand jury duty. I don’t want to do it again ever. Here are some photos I took today, though. I used a little AI to remove a trashed plastic cup from the ground and part of a streetlight that was in the way. The silhouette photo has no AI embellishments.
You have no idea how pleasing this is for me.
Immoral. Hypocritical. And totally a Republican thing to do.
