I hate the YouTube app almost as much as I hate the Substack app. My seething hatred could lead to overlooking something, but are text status update-like posts in people’s YouTube subscription feeds now? There’s no video or share button on this post. I can report it or scroll past it. That’s it.

Michael named him Ralph.

“It is time to dismantle this hate, this infection that has plagued our beautiful country,” he said. “It is time to rid these icons of hate.”

Yes, sir. Yes, it is.

Inside the secretive melting of Civil War monument Robert E. Lee - Washington Post

🧙‍♀️ It’s like in The Wizard of Oz when the Wicked Witch of the West shows up to steal her dead sister’s shoes and Glinda’s all like, “Girl you better watch out now. She’s worse than the other one was,” to Dorothy. And Dorothy’s all like, “…well shit.” That’s pretty much the level of screwed we are, unless we can come up with another MAJOR ice bucket challenge situation for this guy.

Trump pledges to turn away those who don’t like ‘our religion’ - The Washington Post

Pathetic pandering from the dumbest demagogue to his Christian supremacist cult. What a worm.

Heh.

Strange Things: My Reaction to the Song

I drafted this little paragraph after I listened to a song by Abigail Washburn & The Sparrow Quartet. The song is called Strange Things and it lives on an eponymously titled album. Abigail Washburn is a clawhammer banjo playing singer songwriter. She plays bluegrass, speaks and sings in Mandarin, is married to Béla Fleck, and has a very short, but very powerful and memorable TED talk about the importance of music and the power it has to connect people and cultures (Building US-China Relations … by Banjo).

🔪💔💎 Hackney Diamonds by The Rolling Stones

Checking out the new Rolling Stones album, Hackney Diamonds, this afternoon. First release of new material in 18 years. Keith Richards is like 80. And good ol' Mick, who fictional character Patsy Stone once called “a jumping scrotum with lips,” can’t be that far behind. But they sure sound great. Not overproduced, authentic rock and roll. Even heard a saxophone solo on one song, ha! Guest artists, apparently, include Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, and Lady Gaga.

By the way, I’ve lost a few pants sizes. I was up to, I think, a 44 not too long ago. In a 40 now, and they’re still a little loose so I’m going to try a 38 and see how they feel.

It feels like it’s been an eternity since I’ve not had to biggie size my wardrobe every six months.

I hereby decree all 80s & 90s musicians, both marvelous and mediocre, shall henceforth be required to post all extended 12” mixes in their back catalogue on Apple Music like Paula Abdul hath done. And also Janet Jackson.

Today was, thankfully, my last day of grand jury duty. I don’t want to do it again ever. Here are some photos I took today, though. I used a little AI to remove a trashed plastic cup from the ground and part of a streetlight that was in the way. The silhouette photo has no AI embellishments.

You have no idea how pleasing this is for me.

Immoral. Hypocritical. And totally a Republican thing to do.

The US needs to pull its troops out of China and by troops I mean corporations.

Noticed the pride flag flying at the county government building and snapped this pic.

Cropped 3 different ways.

Which is better, A, B, or C?

Here’s a Sunday funny for you:

What’s your RSS app of choice? Am replacing NetNewsWire on iOS 😞 I want to love it, but I want an app that opens the entire article natively without having to send it to Safari to read more or use reader view. It seems like NNW doesn’t do that, or I’ve overlooked a setting.

Waking up with Prince, and some coffee. This is one of my favorite videos of his (or anyone’s for that matter) but nothing will ever top Raspberry Beret.

Remastered! I remember my Aunt Cathie playing his CD for me when it first came out, and of course I loved Wishing Well the most. It was only as a 20-something that this song really became a part of my tapestry for good:
