As Americans ditch Covid measures, pandemic worsens for the vulnerable | Coronavirus | The Guardian: In the last few months, Dr Jeannina Smith has seen organ transplant recipients who have been very careful throughout the pandemic venture out for one activity, contract Covid-19 and lose their transplant. I can’t stand how selfish our society is. And I include my own selfishness with that. It’s gross. Also, I’m still scared.

HOW’S BONSAI?

Mom texted to ask how Bonsai is doing. Here’s what I told her. Well, we have ok days and not so good days. More frequent accidents in the house. She’s really stiff with the arthritis in her hips and back. Her cough seems to come and go. All in all about as expected. Sometimes we’re REALLY stubborn about eating. She’ll go like a day and a half without eating, despite coaxing, trying hot dogs, chicken, etc.

‘State-sponsored purging of ideas’: Students are losing access to books - The Washington Post In one Virginia school district this fall, parents will receive an email notification every time their child checks out a book. In a Florida school system, teachers are purging their classrooms of texts that mention racism, sexism, gender identity or oppression. RE: NEW CDC COVID GUIDANCE 🖕🏻

CDC loosens coronavirus guidance, signaling strategic shift - The Washington Post: The new recommendations signal that the Biden administration and its medical advisers have decided that the lower fatality rate from covid-19 in a heavily vaccinated population permits a less demanding set of guidelines. A lower fatality rate isn’t as big of a deal, huh? Tell that to a family member of the dearly departed. Or to the husband of an organ transplant recipient whose immune system is severely compromised.

MISS JACKSON, IF YOU’RE NASTY!

Nobody: … Beyoncé: RENAISSANCE Me: This is a poem. A compelling and captivating exploration of Blackness, materialism, and higher consciousness nestled jarringly and confidently at the intersection of House, Disco, and R&B. There is nothing like this in her catalog, or in anyone else’s, either. It’s relentless and tremendous. A galaxy lives in this work. Also me:
