Today we went to a screening of From Ground Zero, a collection of short documentaries and artistic films made by Palestinian artists and filmmakers in Gaza.

Many of the subjects spoke of martyrs lost to the war. Families. Children. Cities. Hopes. Histories. Futures.

These sewn together stories were relentless in their presentation. Some of them were hopeful. Others were not.

The loud, grim buzz of drones flying overhead persisted throughout almost every single film.

Watching the collection as it was presented, which is to say honestly, did everything it was supposed to do.
