Week of 01/26/2025

Had a facial this week, something I haven’t done since well before the pandemic. The aesthetician was really nice. We talked politics. I did not ask for “extraction” which is facial speak for squeezing blackheads on your nose and cheeks.

Session with therapist was good. He had me outline significant experiences that I’ve experienced throughout my life. I categorized them into categories and it was kind of weird how symmetrical the numbers were: early childhood (12), teenage (32), young adult (13), adult (32), and tween (12). Well, I guess they’re only symmetrical in that order. But they’re really symmetrical in that order.

We went to two movies - Presence and From Ground Zero. In a way, they were both horror movies. The first was about a haunted house, and the other was about the atrocities the Palestinian people have suffered in Gaza as the target of Netanyahu’s genocidal madness. The first gave me a panic attack, and the other was painful, but essential, to watch.

I got the results of my Autism Spectrum Disorder screening. I have yet to debrief with the psychiatrist who tested me, but as I kind of figured I am indeed on the spectrum. I was most excited, though, about the results of the intelligence test - the Woodcock-Johnson Tests of Cognitive Abilities. I’m in the 91st percentile for Gf-Gc Composite (superior ratings in oral vocabulary and concept formation, above average in general information, and average in number series). It feels good to have the confirmation. It also feels good to know that all the teachers, parents, and bosses who acted like there was something wrong with me because of the way my brain works were actually the ones who were in the wrong.
