This week I used the 5Calls app to contact my congresspeople and our state AG (https://5calls.org). I was pissed off when I got a “this voicemail box is full” message from Husted’s (R-OH) office. It shouldn’t be allowed. They shouldn’t be able to ignore us or prevent us from contacting them. Thinking about ordering some postcards and mailing them. I tried to start a postcard mailing campaign during the last administration when words like “fetus” were being censored from websites and reports. It didn’t go anywhere, but I thought it was clever.
I shared my Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis with my parents. They came to visit and the four of us went to a local production of West Side Story (it was excellent). They seemed genuinely interested in hearing about it and my take on it. Husband said later that he was proud of the way I disclosed to them - without blaming them for some of the ways they’d treated me when I was growing up. There’ll be plenty of time for blame as this administration goes on, I’m sure.
The waiter at dinner pissed me off. I asked for a mocktail, he was lukewarm about it, so I described a non alcoholic drink (ginger beer, cranberry juice, simple syrup, lime juice & lime) and he “jokingly” acted like I was being difficult. Frankly I wanted to tell him to shut the fuck up if he wanted his tip, and that it’s not my fucking fault there isn’t a single word for ginger beer, cranberry juice, simple syrup, lime juice, and lime. It’s not like I could say, “I’ll take a Manhattan” otherwise I would have. Cocky, snobby asshole. I have no desire to return.
At work, I attended a virtual conference on creating effective eLearning. It was actually refreshing to watch sessions that weren’t exclusively dedicated to AI in training. I learned a few things, but I still need to find and take some technical how-to training for Articulate Storyline 360.
Our check payments for passport processing cleared the bank (thank goodness) but we still haven’t received the actual passports. I feel awful for the people whose gender markers differ from their assigned at birth sex. There’s no reason they should be treated any differently because of it. Period.
Watched “The Menu” (2022). I really liked it.
