Actually, I’d rather say, “May you suffer these exact things as I have suffered them, so that you may understand my pain, so that you may walk a mile in my shoes, and so that you may finally use your privilege to take the steps needed to end our vast and devastating communal suffering once and for all.”
“May you never have to…” sounds noble and altruistic on its face, but it’s precisely because they’ve “never” that we’re in this nightmare.
They’ve spent their whole lives never-ing. It’s time they had a taste of their own medicine. It’s time they spend their time ever-ing.
