Couple significant events this week. The first was Maggie Cat’s surgery. The next was our anniversary and long weekend.
Maggie has a condition (I forget the medical name) which has been causing her body to treat her teeth and the plaque on them as foreign objects to be attacked. We’d known about it for some time, but it had gotten more severe in the last six months or so. She was having trouble eating meals because her gums were so swollen and sore that she’d wince and run away from the food. Our vet said she’d likely need to have all of her teeth extracted. This week, that’s what happened. She only had 11 of her original 30 teeth left. I felt (feel) a lot of guilt for not getting it taken care of sooner. But it’s been hard these past few years. First watching Bonsai’s health decline, then Lucy’s. Medications, vet visits - it’s all so fucking expensive. And exhausting.
We decided that we’d get Maggie’s cardio workup done to see if she’d even be a good candidate for surgery, given her age and heart murmur. When the cardiologist said she didn’t see any reason not to proceed with the surgery, well that made the decision for me. I couldn’t not get the surgery for her. I couldn’t not do something to hang on to her for as long as we’re able to.
She’s been staying at a pet boarding center for the weekend, which we turned into a long weekend because our 9-year anniversary was on Friday. We took a trip to Hocking Hills, which is a state park here in Ohio. We’ve been getting daily updates, and Maggie seems to be doing great. It will be good to have her back at home when we go home.

We finished two series this week: EVIL and The Morning Show. Yesterday we watched an old episode of Three’s Company on the TV at the cabin where we’re staying. In it, Jack got a job as a cook at a diner, and his boss (played by John Travolta’s mother) kept making passes at him. When he asked her to stop, she fired him. He sued and he might’ve won if only Mr. Furley had been able to tell the judge that Jack was an ahem fancy man. But rather than win his case and risk being called a fag, Jack covered Mr. Furley’s mouth and he lost the case due to the judge (who had scolded him for dressing like a horny gigolo who was just asking for women to hit on him) (see what they did there?). Larry was as lecherous as you remember, if not even more than you remember with his feathery ass hair and nasty ass hairy chest sticking out of his halfway-unbuttoned-for-no-reason shirt.

🍽️ Eating
Great dinner in downtown Logan, Ohio. Our waiter, I think, was an ahem fancy man.
