“Pray for MAGA” - The Prayer I’d Pray If I Prayed (Which I Don’t)

Original Poster: Don’t hate - congratulate! Pray good things for MAGA. In sunshine and lollipops and Jesus’s name we pray, amen.

Me: …I mean, you could do that, I guess.

Or not.

If I were a believer, I’d pray that MAGAs (read “literally all Republicans” because let’s not pretend) be blessed with experiencing the challenges faced by the marginalized populations for whom they harbor such disdain and hatred. That they be blessed with poverty and starvation, or discrimination in employment and housing, or voter suppression, or unnecessary police brutality, or vaccine preventable disease, or asylum seeking, or humiliation, violence, and insidious scrutiny over their sexual orientation and nonconforming gender identity.

I’d pray that they have the opportunity to walk a mile in the shoes of the most vulnerable, so that they may understand their pain, and then work seriously to fix it on a systemic level.

I mean, isn’t that kinda what Jesus supposedly did? Walked a mile in our shoes? Suffered what we suffer? And then resurrected with an enlightenment which led to self-actualization for people who followed and believed in the guy?

If I were a believer, I’d pray that Republicans get to suffer what we suffer. And once they do, maybe they’d actually appreciate it when they “experience deep well-being, happiness, and joy” and try to spread it around instead of trying to snuff it out.

That’s the prayer I would pray. That’s what would fuel my peace. That’s what would alchemize it all turn it into something beneficial. Not asking god to tell them to have a nice day.

But what do I know I’m just an anti-theistic heathen.
