Dear Dad,

I don’t know why I’m sharing this with you.

Maybe it’s because I know that what we’re witnessing right now is the exact thing all those WWII veterans, including your father, fought to prevent.

Maybe it’s because I’m confused about why you believe in someone so awful, harmful, and hateful.

Maybe it’s because I want you to finally agree with me on something big that defines our character and shows how our values can align.

Maybe it’s none of those things. Maybe it’s all of them. It doesn’t matter.

You’re wise enough to know what’s happening isn’t normal, and it isn’t right.

Mark my words - none of this is going to end well. When our military is charged with rounding up homeless civilians (some veterans) to send them ‘FAR’ away, it’s not going to stop there. We are rushing head first into the kind of disaster that defines and destroys an entire generation, and that takes decades to fix.

So I guess I do know why I’m sharing this with you. I’m sharing this with you so that, when this all goes to shit, you won’t be able to say you never saw it coming.
