Those Wonderful Bette Midler Jokes

If you’ve never done so (or even if you have done so 1,000+ times) you should listen to this (NSFW).

I first heard this track when I checked out the cassette recording of the album at a public library in my hometown. It was around the From a Distance era, so I was pretty young. Teen, pre-teen, something like that. Definitely not old enough to fully appreciate all of it and certainly not old enough that my parents would’ve approved of my listening.

Probably one of the best benefits of having my own library card.

Years later the album became a common touch point between me and a hook up buddy turned friend. He was a very cool guy - English professor with good taste in music and great taste in men (obviously).

He actually connected me to my first therapist. I remember sitting near his kitchen. He was counseling me after an event that had rattled mr, and I was very distraught. I felt lost and he was supportive and kind. He told me my 30s were going to be some of the best years of my life.

He was right.
