Last weekend we celebrated our 10-year marriage anniversary. We went out for dinner where I’d had flowers delivered from The Plant Gays and photos scattered on the table. An older couple stopped by to congratulate us, and their warm sincerity was lovely. A large party of 8 or 10 people behind us who was having a birthday dinner were so excited for us that they bought us shots! I declined the shot but toasted with everyone.
It was good and important to feel that kind of support and affirmation in public. It’s an affirmation that might mean more today - nationally and here at home in Ohio - than it would’ve 10 years ago.
Happy anniversary, husband.
