The United States’ Religious Liberty Commission has issued a draft report which proposes, among other things:
- Abandoning longstanding First Amendment principles.
- Expanding governmental promotion of religion in public schools and other public institutions.
- Repealing the Johnson Amendment so that tax-exempt churches can engage in partisan electioneering.
- Resurrecting the failed 2018 “Religious Liberty Task Force”.
- Creating new hotlines dedicated to advancing preferred religious claims
- Encouraging judicial appointments based on a particular ideological vision of religious liberty.
