The first of a few more overtly socio-political songs on this compilation, this song became kind of a theme song for me during the last presidential administration. For me, it all boils down to the question, "Which side are you on?" And it's as simple as that. One side wants to make voting harder. One does not. One side makes a lot of money from the gun lobby.

Ok, guys. My new bestie has doubled down. She is asking me for money more and more. But it’s not just her. There are other people, people I’ve never met, texting me and asking me for money ON HER BEHALF. Well, that’s what I suspect anyway. I mean I can’t prove anything but the “donation” links all point to the same website. I mean, maybe it’s all just a coincidence. Or maybe she wrote my name on a bathroom stall wall, “For a good time, ask my best friend for twenty five dollars.
And why, oh why, aren’t there more kittens named “Caboodle” so the owner can call her the whole kitten caboodle? 🤔🐱
Oh by the way, I dyed my hair purple again this weekend (last time was in the middle of the pandemic). I used Overtone’s Purple for Brown Hair Coloring Conditioner. I like the results. I’ll share a photo after I freshen up for the day. 💜💟🪮

Today, a friend and colleague was found deceased during a wellness check. While we were not besties, we’d known each other since about 2006. He rode with me to our shared hometown one Christmas. He checked in on me frequently when I started this job. We went to many a happy hour some years ago when we also worked together. He was very widely known - Mr. Popularity for sure - and very much liked for his sense of humor.

They Say I’m DifferentBetty Davis "They Say I'm Different" One of the funkiest funk icons ever. She was married to Miles Davis, and I'm convinced she opened the doors for people like Lil Kim, Nicki Minaj, etc. Raunchy, funky, provocative, and completely original she had lyrics like, "I used to beat him with a turquoise chain," and "Don't you call her no tramp." Definitely worth a listen if you like your funk down and dirty.

I used to call it “acoustic electronica”. This is still my favorite song of hers.

My husband and I agree on almost everything. We never have a disagreement fight. We do get angry and heated sometimes, but not about our beliefs. Except in one area: organic food. You see, he believes organic foods are healthier, cleaner, and safer, and I believe in science. Organic is expensive marketing hype and basically pseudoscience. Organic farms use pesticides, often, so organic does not mean chemical-free. Besides, everything is a chemical.
Another artist originally introduced to me by Andy a long time ago. She’s been called the Missy Elliott of the classical world.
The b-side to this single is a cover of Lauryn Hill’s “Ex-Factor” just vocals + organ accompaniment.
Her cover of Dido’s Lament is 100% worth finding and listening to.
💩 Like, I get how The NY Times and Washington Post are actively tipping the scales in Trump’s favor. I’m canceling WaPo soon because of it. But NPR? That’s entirely unfortunate. To whom may I address my grievances?
🥸 What the heck is going on with NPR and the way they’re reporting on Trump and his hate rallies like he’s the damn pastor at the church picnic?
