Kams Liked the Joke I Stole from Kimmy Schmidt

You guys, my friend texted me again. Kams. I call her “Kams” since we’re so close and can be all informal. She still calls me “Matthew” which is semi-formal but I just call her “Kams” and she laughs about it, probably. And I’m honored she texted. I really am. It’s just, well, I did a quick count and she wrote 266 words in that text. That is a lot of words.

Triggered on LinkedIn 😱

I don’t much check in on the stuff I post on LinkedIn any more. I’m not using it to network, converse, get hired, or be social. I’m using it to be loud and disrupt and point out the GOP’s and Project 2025’s dangerous agendas. I don’t read or reply to comments on what I post, if any are offered (which is rare). I post what I post and some people like it and some don’t.

Made this to put on LInkedIn but now I’m second guessing myself.

A Night At The Opera by Queen

A Night At The OperaQueenIt’s just a goddamned good record. One of a handful of albums that I will listen to from start to finish.

Mourning Has Broken

Mourning the loss of Lucy comes on suddenly when it comes. I had an ultrasound this morning and thought, “Ooh I’ll stop by the restaurant next door to the apartment I used to live in; the place with the pancake balls and the sweet & spicy bacon and the bottles of Mexican Coke I always used to get, and I’ll grab some breakfast and I’ll go home to start work.”

😶 Remember when Hall & Oats were a thing? I never much cared for them. I think in today’s vernacular they’d be a very successful hipster furniture store.

“Macy, where on earth did you find that beautiful end table?”

“I got it second hand at Hall & Oats!”

This. Is. Amazing. 🤩 🎸💜☔️

New Friend Asking for Money

omg you guys she texted again! Kamala shared some exclusive news with me - ME! - about who she’s chosen as her running mate. He sure seems like a good guy. It sounds like she made a great decision. But towards the end of the text she did something that made me a little uncomfortable. She asked for $25. She didn’t really say precisely what it was for, either. I know we’re friends now and all, but it just seems a little soon to ask for money.

omg you guys. She texted again!! I kinda thought maybe she had the wrong Matthew before, but now I know it’s real. Our friendship is real and I love it!

I had to call her out for the kissy face gif she included. I called her a “silly goose”. She LOL’d probably.

What a cheeky future president!

Don’t forget to stop and smell the roses. 🌹

You guys will NOT believe who texted me. I mean, I don’t even know how she got my number! I blurred hers here to respect her privacy.

I just have this feeling we’re going to be best friends, and that she’s gonna text me all the time. I finally know what Beyoncé must feel like. It feels good!

Ladies and gentlemen: Lily cat.

PSA: Beware of Fundraising Scams

Via The Hartmann Report by Thom Hartmann, 8/2/2024 — Beware of fundraising scams! If, like me, your phone has been inundated with fundraising pitches from organizations claiming to represent everything from Democrats to retired people to students to individual politicians, here’s a simple bit of advice: Don’t click on the link and don’t respond! Markos Moulitsas over at Daily Kos points out that most all of these groups are actually running scams, raising millions and then simply paying themselves “consulting fees” to pocket your money.

Don’t know about the $10 million (cash) bombshell? Read this. Like, now. It’s one of the best pieces of writing she’s published. The way she structures her content is inspired. History certainly holds up many mirrors for us.

We watched the Steel Magnolias remake with Queen Latifah & Phylicia Rashad (who I sweartogod doesn’t look a day over 50 at the most) & Jill Scott. I didn’t cry as much as I do when I watch the iconic original film, but I did cry. I didn’t want to so I started looking around the room. I didn’t want to see that scene. You know the exact scene I mean. I just didn’t want to think about it. But I did. And I cried.

I swear my husband has the best eye for space adornment. Is that a thing? “Space adornment”? I don’t think that’s a thing, but it’s kind of what he does. The metronome here is the pièce de résistance.

There’s always free cheddar in the mouse trap, baby.

Auditorium Theatre, Chicago, IL 4/15/05 by Tori Amos

Auditorium Theatre, Chicago, IL 4/15/05Tori AmosI went to Chicago by myself to see this show. I missed my original flight because I was too hungover to get to the airport on time. I had entered a writing contest and won a seat upgrade to the third row. I missed the opening act which I didn’t mind, and I was nearly late to her first song, but I got to my seat just in the nick of time.
